We have recently purchased a new Amity sail boat from Australiawide – the second Amity to be built and now named Porthaethwy. We have been delighted with both the process of buying the boat and, now that we have taken delivery, with the boat itself. While we have only been in possession of Porthaethwy for a few weeks, we are delighted with our purchase and feel that we have acquired a quality boat that will give us enjoyment for years to come.
Euan MacDonald and the other members of the Amity team who built Porthaethwy are very attentive to detail and to the particular needs of a new boat owner. During the construction phase Euan was in frequent contact to discuss different options and what would best suit us. His knowledge and passion for traditional sail boats and sailing is very evident.
The team at Australiawide are friendly and generous with their time. We also had the opportunity to meet with the boat builders and the sail maker during the process who, like Euan, have the same enthusiasm for the new Amity.

Australiawide and Detlef restored my faith in Boat Brokers. I was advised on boat condition along with pictures and purchased sight unseen. When i took delivery i was not disappointed. Boat was probably better than what was described and as a bonus the owner added nav and sounder gear which was not inclusive in the initial sale inventory of which Australiawide passed on to me. Whilst the purchase price was no more than a good tinny the service was no less than if i was spending a million. Highly recommended 150%.

From the moment we entered the Australiwide Sales office we received excellent service from Detlef Bauer. He identified precisely what we were looking for and the characteristics we were hoping to avoid. He narrowed our choice down, without wasting our time showing us boats beyond our price range.

We liked what we saw and on the day of the survey Detlef then gave us the best test sale you could ever hope to receive with a few hours on the water racing in the ‘Wednesday Afternoon Go Sailing'(WAGS). With his skill on board, we crossed the finish line first. Suffice to say we bought the boat!

The team at Australiawide are excellent and know the industry very well. Their knowledge of boats and the information is of the highest standard. As I have bought two boats in the last three years from Australiawide (and sold one), it was their knowldge and profesionalism that helped me make the right choices. We made a quick trip to Australiawide in Manly QLD all the way from Melbourne ,to inspect "SARNIA" a 35′ Millkraft circa 1959.
With only limited time available to us, Euan was willing to "go the extra mile",was helpful, professional, very knowledgeable about timber vessels and went out of his way to assist in getting answers to our multitude of questions.
We subsequently purchased her and Euan made all the arrangements regarding lift out on our behalf , giving suggestions as to suitable Marine Surveyors, transport operators etc and taking the worry out of the whole process.
We knew we were in good hands as Euan kept a careful watch over the proceedings from purchase through to loading of "SARNIA" for transport,for which we are very grateful.
SARNIA eventually arrived safe and sound in Paynesville on the Gippsland Lakes (Victoria) and we are enjoying cruising in her.
