18 Nov 2008 - Sold a boat Endeavour 26 - Australiawide Manly found a buyer My Endeavour 26 was in urgent need of a paint job, but I had just bought another boat and I now had two just six weeks to sell my "not so pretty" Endeavour. I called into the Manly Australiawide office and spoke with Detlef. I showed him the boat, we talked about a price and I left. I checked the Austrailawide website next evening and there was my Endeavour with a great selection of photos and a very well worded advertisment. Two weeks later Australiawide called me, this time it was Ivan on the phone. He said he had a buyer, I agreed to their offer and the deal was done. During those two weeks I dropped into the Manly office on a number of occasions and I would like to make the point of saying that, from my initial meeting through to settlement, both Detlef and Ivan from the Manly Australiawide office were exceptionally helpful and extremely professional. In a world that is often now so hurried and impersonal, my brief association with these gentlemen was a like breath of fresh air. It is with great pleasure that we write to thank Jeff and Yvette Rowe at Australiawide Boat Sales for their wonderful support and professional service during the process of buying our second yacht, 'Four Winds'. We had been searching for another boat for several years. Our requirements were quite specific and, as a result, we invested a considerable amount of time driving up and down the east coast of Australia, meeting with brokers and looking at boats. We were actually heading back to our home port, Hobart, (from Cairns) and contemplating the fact that it would possibly be necessary to look offshore to find our yacht, when we noticed a Roberts 53' on Jeff's' website. Jeff was in Sydney when we rang, but Yvette, at very short notice, arranged an inspection. We had had considerable experience of brokers and inspections by this time, and can confidently say that the hour or two we spent with Yvette were probably the most pressure free and pleasant of our entire trip. We were very much taken with the yacht and therefore extended our stay in Brisbane. After a second inspection with Jeff and Yvette, various negotiations ensued, during the course of which, we were impressed by Jeff's tenacity to achieve the best sale price for the vendor, but also recognize our constraints. Had we been dealing directly with the seller without the benefit of Jeff's negotiating skills, the sale would certainly have fallen through. The level of support was simply extraordinary, Jeff, well beyond the call of duty, introduced us to excellent professional tradesmen and very competent people who could assist us in almost every aspect of yacht maintenance and sailing. It is our experience that this alone reduced the anxiety felt when buying a boat interstate. Thanks to Jeff, we agreed on a figure and purchased the yacht. We are delighted with 'Four Winds', and would recommend Australiawide Boat Sales at Newport to anyone thinking of buying or selling a yacht. We would certainly recommend australiawide to others buying a boat.     1 Jun 2007 - Bought a boat Meander After carefull consideration we decided to buy a yacht in Queensland to take advantage of the wonderful weather and sailing opportunities. We are actually New Zealanders - hoping for early retirement - who want to spent some time in the beautiful waters of Australia, away from the cold and wet of New Zealand. So we hopped on a plane, got to Manly and met quiet a few brokers. How disappointing - nothing they showed us came even close to our dream. Until we saw "Meander" at East Coast Marina. We could not help but to come back for a second look. DETLEF BAUER from Australiawide Boat Sales gave us all the information we needed. He assessed us as people who would match this type of boat immediately and started negotiations between the seller and us in a most professional way. We had the feeling that he has the gift to work for both parties equally well and his sensible advice and understanding of "human nature" made it possible to come to an agreement, that suited us all. Happy faces on both sides - and a smiling Detlef in the middle! Detlef worked on our contract with knowledge and expertise. He made arrangements with the surveyor, the insurance and organised a suitable berth. At the moment we are not able to use the boat as much as we want, as we still have obligations in NZ. I can only say I am totally satisfied with the service. I flew from Newcastle to Coolangatta and Detlef picked me up at the airport and took me to Coomera where the vessel was moored. Negotiations through Detlef with the owner were successful and lead to a sale, once again Detlef returned me to Coolangatta. Detlef was able to assist in providing me with a list of marine surveyors to choose from and he came to the marina for the survey inspection with me. Finally Detlef also located a qualified yacht deliverer who safely returned the vessel to Port Stephens. Dear Euan, We all deal personally and professionally with a variety of companies in our daily lives, some give great service, some try to, whilst others are just hopeless and of course their is the odd ones we all try to avoid. Common with all the good organisations are staff who try always to do their best for themselves and their companies and we all, I think, like to deal with these as much as possible. I am not writing to you today to comment on these types of organisations and their people but in fact to mention and acknowledge the other, very rare type of companies such as Australiawide who put in the extra effort, who always try harder than the others, as well as acknowledging an outstanding individual within your organisation. Recently this staff member of Australiawide Boat Sales sold my 43 foot yacht after it had not sold with another broker. He chased me to sell my boat and stated that he believed he could sell it and get a better result than I had until then. I must admit initially I thought it was a salesman's throw away line and took little notice--how wrong I was! Jeff Rowe lost his first potential buyer of our yacht who took up a lot of everyone's time and probably would have discouraged most salesmen--not Jeff, he stated that" we will just try again because I will sell it". He did sell the vessel for a fair price with the second buyer---nothing much different to other competent salesman, but it was the way he handle the listing from day one than most impressed Jeff was always in touch over the months the boat took to sell, nothing was ever a problem, his manner was always polite and he was always enthusiastic---I think he must like boats!! After months of inactivity we were made aware of Euan at Australiawide Boat Sales. Euan kept working with us to sell the boat when other brokers stopped.Euan also introduced us to “Whimborn” a Roberts 36 in a very charming yellow color! The decision was made to buy the Roberts (and new sunglasses) so we signed up as full members of the “Two-Boat club”. It took another two months before the perfect buyer for Irex came along but we were too busy renovating the new boat and keeping Irex up to scratch to worry about having two vessels. Euan then proceeded to sell Irex and it could not have been better handled. The Roberts is the 23rd boat my husband has owned and he tells me that Irex was the only boat he has sold that has not caused any anxiety. As for the other three brokers with whom Irex was listed they were no bother either as we never heard from them!Our experience with both buying and selling boats has brought us into contact with many yacht-brokers over the years. From my initial call Euan's approach was professional, at a personal level he is a top bloke. Following the sale there was a minor issue, but the back up service was exceptional and the problem sorted in a minimum of time with no fuss. Being keen for a sale so I could move on to my next vessel I placed my beloved boat with this mob. Firstly let me say that I was impressed with the speed that the web site had my add placed, next, which I believe is the most important point, Euan kept me completely informed on the market and situation at all times. I can confidently say that your site in all facets was equal to any and superior to most, from a users perspective, without which I doubt the purchase would have been made. Having overtime established that you had a boat which may meet my requirements, I requested ancillary information and received a prompt reply following which I telephoned your Newport office. This was my first contact with Jeff Rowe, unexpectedly (I was expecting some kind of used car salesman) I found Jeff to be most helpful and gave every indication that the information he was providing was genuine and accurate. As a result I flew to Brisbane the next day for an inspection. At this point on arrival at Newport the real challenge began, Jeff explained the yacht was not in Newport Marina but 40 minutes north. Over the next three days we made three trips during which I felt I was "assisted" in making a decision and not "sold". My offer to the owner, subject to conditions was accepted and once the paperwork was completed I expected to be "on my own", somewhat daunting a couple of thousand kilometres from home and no local contacts. The level of support, advice and introductions to local trades, services, authorities and people who could help me was invaluable and much appreciated. Your staff attended the haul out of the river at 9:30pm and Jeff attended the survey to ensure all went to plan as easily as possible. The service I received from Jeff has been outstanding and still it continues well after the sale has been made. I should say too that at no time did I believe that Australiawide compromised their obligations to the vendor. Without doubt the sale would not have gone through if I had been dealing with the vendor direct. The process took much longer than a normal purchase due to the fact that the boat was needing some repairs which were being completed by the prior owner. We placed a deposit in early June and the deal was completed by the end of July. We were all very patient, the owner, the broker, and ourselves. This delay looking back was a blessing in disguise as we were able to get to know our boat thoroughly before even taking it out. Paul &Margaret Ingamells - Cooroy     11 May 2004 - Bought a boat Hans Christian During the first week of April 2004, whilst searching for a boat to purchase, I inspected a Hans Christian 43T sailing yacht moored at Moreton Bay Boat Club, Newport, Queensland. The boat was shown to me by Jeff Rowe of Australiawide Boat Sales. I live in Switzerland and had originally found the boat through internet search engines, followed by email contact with Jeff. We then had several telephone conversations, discussing the HC as well as a couple of other similar boats in the area. Consequently I decided to fly from Switzerland to Australia, where I met Jeff, he arranged suitable accommodation nearby and showed up exactly at the arranged time to accompany me to the boat. Jeff was friendly, honest and professional. I found that during all our contacts he had accurately represented the boat to me and whilst I viewed the boat, he served as a useful and unbiased sounding board for my thoughts, meanwhile letting me get on with it.
